Investigating Mitochondrial Morphology in Brain Cells
This PhD opportunity is focused on developing and applying computational multiscale models to understand how mitochondrial morphology affects energetic states in brain cells.
* A novel agent-based physiological 3D model of mitochondria will be extended and embedded into single-cell models for neurons and glial cells.
The research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex relationships between mitochondrial dynamics, energy metabolism, and neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.
