The Applied Machine Learning (AML) group within the Artificial Intelligence Department is seeking a scientist in the field of Machine Learning to strengthen its research activities in the application area of medicine and health, particularly in the research and development of new multimodal ML models. The AML research group continuously explores and develops innovative solutions that are applied in current and future key research topics. Be part of change
* Analysis and preprocessing of various medical datasets, particularly images and texts, as well as tabular and higher-dimensional data
* Testing, implementation, and benchmarking of new research methods
* Development of machine learning approaches to solve application-oriented problems involving multimodal data
* Participation in exciting projects with external partners and clients
* Writing scientific publications and supervising students
* Presentation of results at trade fairs, project meetings, and other events
* Supporting the preparation of research proposals
What you contribute
* Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
* Advanced knowledge in Machine Learning, particularly in Deep Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Multimodal Machine Learning
* Relevant references or evidence of previous scientific achievements in the field of medicine and health
* Experience in developing competitive ML models for segmentation, classification, and regression tasks using various data types, e.g., time series, images, or text
* Enthusiasm and enjoyment in (further) developing codebases and discovering new datasets
* Experience and confidence in using Python, Linux (Ubuntu), and Git via the terminal
* Team spirit, strong communication skills, and an interest in interdisciplinary collaboration

The position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.
The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
