Postdoc for lithium-ion battery design in a digitalization project (F/M/D)

The INM Research Department Energy Materials explores materials for lithium-ion batteries by going beyond conventional graphite anodes and present-day cathode materials.
To leverage on our scientific profile exploring digital methods for battery materials, we seek a Postdoc for lithium-ion battery design in a digitalization project, Desired starting date: July 1st, 2025 (or sooner), salary level E13 TV-L 100%, contract limited to two years (with possible extension).
Synthesis of lithium-ion batteries with different composition and conductive additives.
Build and characterize lithium-ion batteries for industrial application.
Conduct electrochemical characterization, including cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge/discharge, and electro-chemical impedance spectroscopy.
Perform material characterization (X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, Scanning electroscope microscopy).
Analyze data, contribute to scientific publications, and present research findings at international conferences.
Collaborate closely with our industrial partner and support the overall scientific goals of the project.
PhD degree in chemistry, materials science, energy materials, or a related field.
Experience with lithium-ion batteries and material characterization.
Experience with electrochemical methods and material synthesis.
Ability to work as a member of an international, multi-disciplinary team.
Excellent communication and writing skills, thorough command of the English language. German language knowledge is very beneficial.
