Contentpass offers website publishers a GDPR-compliant solution to increase digital revenues while enabling users to visit their favorite sites ad- and tracking-free with our cross-publisher subscription. Our network includes over 500 publishers in Europe, such as Axel Springer, Burda, Hearst and Prisa. We are a fast growing startup now expanding into other countries.
With privacy at heart, our SDK is built to integrate seamlessly with over 500 publisher websites, ensuring tracking-free experiences for users while handling billions of page impressions every month. It plays a critical role in enforcing consent decisions and interacts closely with various Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) to make this work reliably and fast at scale.
Join us as a Senior Frontend Engineer to take over responsibility for this high-impact JavaScript SDK and help shape the technical backbone of our privacy-first ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
* Own: Take full ownership of our JavaScript SDK used across hundreds of partner sites and seen by millions of users daily.
* Integrate: Maintain and evolve our integrations with CMPs such as Sourcepoint, Didomi, and Usercentrics, including platform-specific wrappers.
* Standardize: Work on unifying and potentially open-sourcing the CMP API wrapper layer.
* Improve: Spot performance issues, browser quirks, or integration pitfalls across different environments—and fix them before they become problems.
* Collaborate: Work closely with product, engineering, and partners to roll out new features and resolve real-world edge cases.
Qualifications:
* Seniority: At least 5 years of experience in frontend development, ideally involving SDKs, third-party scripts, or browser-side integration work.
* JavaScript expertise: Deep understanding of the language, Web standards and browser APIs
* SDK mindset: You’ve built or maintained libraries or APIs meant to be used by other developers. You think in terms of public interfaces, clear documentation, backward compatibility, and handling unknown environments gracefully
* Code quality: You care deeply about correctness, stability, and performance—especially when your code runs on production websites you don't control.
* Compatibility: You know how to build something that runs in IE8—just kidding, it’s 2025. But we do care about building things that work (almost) everywhere.
* Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication (English), able to explain technical challenges to both engineers and non-engineers.
* Startup spirit: A self-starter with a can-do attitude and ownership mentality—someone who thrives in a lean, fast-moving environment.
Bonus points:
* Familiarity with CMPs and privacy regulation ecosystems (TCF, IAB, etc.)
* Experience maintaining or contributing to open source projects
* Experience debugging browser behavior across environments and devices
* Background in digital publishing, advertising, or subscriptions
Benefits:
* Impact: Shape a core component of our platform that touches millions of users every day.
* Ownership: Take on a central engineering responsibility and make decisions that matter.
* Learning: Work directly with the founding team and gain deep insight into privacy tech, consent ecosystems, and high-scale JavaScript delivery.
* Flexibility: Enjoy a fully remote work setup from anywhere within CET ±2h.
* Culture: Join a focused, friendly team that values autonomy, clarity, and impact.
* Equity: Besides a competitive salary, we also offer equity
