We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer (m/w/d) in Monheim am Rhein. This role supports the Ecolab Dishmachine Program (EDP), focusing on new product development and commercialization of dishmachines ranging from small undercounter units to large conveyor systems. Responsibilities include leading engineering projects, developing innovative digital and electromechanical systems, and collaborating with global teams to develop market-leading solutions. The position emphasizes creating products that enhance customer experience, safety, reliability, and value.
Main Responsibilities
* Serve as a technical expert in mechanical engineering, leading design process standardization and best practices.
* Lead project planning and execution, including system architecture, mechanical design, qualification, validation, and transfer to manufacturing.
* Engage with internal and external customers to identify needs and gaps.
* Support cross-functional teams in developing new products.
* Communicate project plans and progress to leadership.
* Develop specifications, estimate costs, and analyze performance and reliability of solutions.
* Promote knowledge sharing and technical growth within the team.
* Understand market needs and develop digital solutions to enhance product value.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 5+ years (BS), 3+ years (MS), or less than 2 years (PhD).
* Experience in design, product development, and manufacturing, especially in plastic and sheet metal parts.
* Proficiency in FEA, DOE, FMEA, and advanced engineering tools.
* Strong communication, organizational skills, and project leadership experience.
* Fluency in English is required.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in project leadership, IoT systems, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and system design.
* Proficiency with engineering tools like SolidWorks and simulation software.
