Your main tasks

In our IT Development group in Ratingen, you will support the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence (EDWBI) team as a Data Engineer (m/f/d) in the MS SQL Server environment. Your main focus will be on the continuous implementation of scalable, robust, future-proof, and compliant data pipelines in the context of Data Vault 2.0.
Your main tasks will include:

* ETL/ELT Development: You will develop, maintain, administer, and document scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines for batch and streaming processing, working with object-oriented T-SQL modules to integrate various sources into the enterprise data warehouse and data lakes. You will use MS SQL Server tools (SSIS and SQL Server Agent) to orchestrate the data pipelines and work on-premises.
* Lakehouse Modeling and Data Vault 2.0: You are highly skilled in the independent design, maintenance, and extension of data models according to Inmon, Data Vault, or Lakehouse principles. You transform, normalize, and denormalize data from various source systems or deliver high-quality data to the propagation layer, thus providing the foundation for data analysts and data scientists, for example, in the areas of risk controlling and sales.
* Data Governance and Quality Management: To ensure data quality and consistency, you will administer the error mart and its mechanisms, using it as the basis for controlling cleanup processes across all EDWH layers. You will quickly familiarize yourself with existing frameworks and compliance requirements and easily adapt to various environments (development, quality assurance, and production) within the context of release management. The technical review of EDWH data for consistency offers you a welcome change of pace, especially as this activity allows you to deepen your banking-specific knowledge and respond appropriately to regulatory requirements.
* Solution optimization and interdisciplinary collaboration: You will participate in the introduction of new technologies, services, and best practices in data integration and data management by analyzing existing systems, questioning their functionality, and continuously developing them further. To manage your daily and project-related tasks, you will work closely with various specialist teams. To ensure seamless integration and coordination of technical solutions, you understand the specific challenges of interface interaction with relevant stakeholders such as IT, Controlling, Operations, and the PMO, and you always communicate effectively with the appropriate audience.

Your profile

* Qualification: You have at least a completed degree in computer science, business informatics, data engineering or a similar STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) field or a comparable qualification from practical experience.
* Experience and expertise: You possess demonstrably sound, multi-year practical experience in data engineering and in the further development of DWH solutions. Knowledge of various data architectures (data warehouse, corporate information factory, data vault, lakehouse) and their modeling notations is essential.
* Technical skills: You have excellent knowledge of data integration, ETL processes, data governance, metadata systems, and data quality frameworks, as well as experience in the further development of data-driven services. You have several years of experience (at least two years) in object-oriented programming with T-SQL. Ideally, you already have practical know-how with Apache Spark and MS SQL Server orchestration tools, as well as in building data lakes. Knowledge of PowerShell programming is a further advantage.
* Work style and motivation: They are characterized by a structured, independent, and solution-oriented work style. A high level of intrinsic motivation, a constant thirst for knowledge, a high degree of commitment and resilience, as well as enjoyment of teamwork, round out their applicant profile.
* Communication: You possess the exceptional ability to communicate highly complex, technical topics in a target-group-oriented manner, primarily in German and ideally also in English, and to win over stakeholders to data-driven solutions. Fluent German skills, at least at C1 level, are essential to ensure the reliable creation of technical documentation.
