Hauptaufgaben
At the journeyman-level, operates a wide variety of conventional machine tools and complex CNC equipment. Fabricates, repairs and/or modifies standard types of cutting tools, fixtures, jigs, cams, punches and dies etc., used in machining, assembling and other metal working operations. Occasionally visits the job site, to study their assignment, then plans the sequence of operation obtains material, lays out work, and calculates necessary dimensions and tolerances. Determines and plans for performance of related operations such as heat treating, surface finishing or plating. Performs function tests on numerical control equipment and conventional equipment to insure status and capability of equipment prior to utilizing for prototype machining of components. Produces one-of-a-kind components, independently reads and interprets engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications and quality standards to obtain dimensional requirements. Investigates problem situations and makes responsible recommendations for improvement in quality plans and manufacturing procedures. Discusses problem situations with the appropriate personnel and makes recommendations for change in processes to improve quality. Performs complex and simple setups of work and machine tools, both conventional and numerical control. Builds holding devices and manufactures shop made fixtures when required. Plans operational use of machines, tooling and. other resources to manufacture a wide variety of prototype components relative to cannon manufactures and non-mission items. Completes complex machining repairs & rework on production items, prototype items and fixtures as required.
Must apply knowledge of gas welding torch processes such as oxyacetylene, oxy-hydrogen and other industrial gases. Must apply knowledge of arc processes (including inert gas-shielded ones) involving methods such as gas metal-arc, gas tungsten-arc, gas carbon-arc, plasma-arc welding. Must apply skill and knowledge to set up and operate acetylene and electrical welding machines. Must have knowledge of welding standards and how various metals and alloys such as different kinds of steel, aluminum, react to different welding processes and techniques. Must have skill to weld metal parts that may vary in size, shape and thickness from very thin (.025" or less) to very thick, requiring multiple welding passes and weld dissimilar metals such as copper to steel. Must have knowledge of commonly used metals to assure proper spacing, pressure and heat cycles when using electric welding processes and must control the torch or arc and the positioning and feeding of the welding rod or electrode when welding manually to prevent burning of base metals and obtain desired penetration and weld beam dimension.
Applies a comprehensive knowledge of machining operations end metal cutting processes to determine the feasibility and acceptability of complex items, initial setups and production of components. Utilizes knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, dial test indicators, sine bars, gage blocks, electronic height gages and inspection gages to ensure accuracy of dimensions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
A4-05:
Completed vocational training of at least 30 months in the appropriate trade.

OR/ODER
5 years of specialized experience.
5 Jahre einschlaegige Berufserfahrung.
