Who we are looking for
Becoming part of the Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) team of State Street Bank International GmbH (SSBI) you will drive and shape the future of the firm’s policies, procedures, systems and controls to prevent and detect financial crimes. The role sits within SSBI’s FCC function and the role holder will take over responsibilities in further developing the program set-up and support the SSBI Group Money Laundering Reporting Officer (“MLRO”) with a diverse set of tasks and varying projects.
The role can be performed in Frankfurt or Munich, in office-centric hybrid model.

What you will be responsible for
As Senior Expert Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) you will be accountable for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of effective global and local policies, procedures, systems and controls in accordance with the global and local laws, regulation and guidance to enable SSBI to identify, assess, monitor and manage money laundering and other financial crimes risks.
Specifically, you will:
1. Provide advice and challenge to first line of defense in their creation, maintenance and development of effective systems, controls, policies, procedures and training in order that SSBI complies with Financial Crimes related regulatory and legal requirements
2. Ensure the design and execution of the SSBI business risk assessment is in line with local regulatory requirements and provides a holistic assessment of SSBI’s inherent financial crime risks and the effectiveness of the controls that have been implemented to manage those risks
3. Ensure that new, or amended regulatory obligations, industry guidance and best practice applicable to SSBI jurisdictions are appropriately assessed and reflected in its operating procedures and controls
4. Perform quality assurance reviews for the overall SSBI FCC framework and steer holistic remediation activities
5. Manage and support internal and external audits and inspections as well as major regulatory implementation projects
6. Be a trusted advisor and technical expert to SSBI’s business lines and relevant functions on financial crime risks and emerging issues

9. Demonstrable problem solving and decision-making skills in particular when advising SSBI’s business units on the financial crimes risk and issues impacting SSBI’s business operations
10. Deep understanding of core financial crimes risks, in particular money laundering, Know-Your-Customer (KYC) processes and economic sanctions as well as fraud and ABC
11. Recent experience providing advice or guidance on the application of FCC related laws and corresponding controls
12. Strong written and verbal communication skills
13. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently together with different internal and external stakeholders
14. Strong leadership and organizational skills
15. Ability to multi-task and being responsible for different tasks / projects
16. Strong relationship management skills
Education & Preferred Qualifications
17. 10+ years of relevant industry experience in banking or financial services
18. University degree or equivalent, preferably with a legal background, or significant prior experience as an MLRO or Financial Crimes Compliance expert
19. Expertise in core financial crimes compliance risks (AML, KYC, Sanctions)
20. FCC certifications or trainings would be a benefit
21. Proficiency in German and English
