As a senior underwriter, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement our global marine risk management strategy.
The role involves disciplinary and professional leadership of the department and its personnel. You will be accountable for underwriting decisions and profit and loss performance of HDI's global marine portfolio, including complex risk segments such as automotive, commodity, and project cargo accounts.
You will work closely with worldwide units to develop new and existing customers through a co-underwriting process. Additionally, you will contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at establishing underwriting excellence in the marine line of business.
A key aspect of this role is the further development of the business strategy within the area of responsibility, e.g., underwriting policy and risk appetite.
* You will have a strong background in business administration or law, with extensive experience in international underwriting of industrial risks in marine insurance.
* An academic degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
* Experience in a leadership position is highly desirable.
* You will possess strong communication skills, with the ability to conduct talks and negotiations effectively.
* Sociability and the ability to work in a team are essential, as well as the ability to work under pressure even in time-critical situations.
* You will have very good knowledge of the MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Business fluency in written and spoken English and German is required; other foreign languages are welcome.
* Travel may be necessary.
