The Embassy of Canada to Germany in Berlin is the Government of Canada's primary diplomatic mission in Germany. Together with its consulates in Düsseldorf and Munich, it represents Canada's political, economic, and cultural interests, manages bilateral relations with the German government, and promotes trade, investment, and cooperation between the two countries.

  • Salary: 50,022 EUR gross per annum. As per current terms and conditions (periodically reviewed) additional benefits include a yearly bonus of 13th month's salary, a 14th half month's salary bonus, 30 days of annual leave and a performance based annual salary increase.
  • Contract Type: Term (Full-time) - 12 months with possibility of extension.

Aufgaben

Note: This process may also be used to fill other LE-A2 positions (term and indeterminate) within the CSDP (Common Services Delivery Point) that may become available following completion of this selection process.

Finance Assistants and Contracting Assistants provide high quality client service in a shared services environment to Canadian missions (embassies/high commissions/consulates) across Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Finance and Contracting Assistants act as first points of contact for one or several client missions and provide high quality advice and guidance to clients.

  • Auditing invoices and expense claims to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance, by applying comprehensive knowledge of financial policies and guidelines & processing related financial transactions in the departmental financial accounting system (SAP).
  • Overseeing the procurement process for client missions – including creating and maintaining procurement transactions in SAP/MM Module and other systems, drafting contractual documents using approved templates, facilitating the procurement strategy review by the Regional Contract Review Board while ensuring all activities align with Government of Canada compliance requirements.

Profil

All essential qualifications will be assessed. Methods of assessment and screening of candidates may include but are not limited to the following: verification of credentials, résumés, and cover letters; interviews, exams, and practical tests; presentations or other types of assessments.
Education
This position requires:

  • Abitur/High School or equivalent from a recognized institution

Language
The following languages and proficiency levels are required for this job.

  • An advanced proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in English.

Experience
In order to perform the duties relevant to this job, the following experience is required.

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working in an office environment
  • A minimum of 1 year cumulative experience in client service.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications:

  • An intermediate proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in French.
  • Experience working in finance
  • Experience working with the finance or accounting modules of SAP or other enterprise management software
  • Experience working in a public sector and/or international environment
  • Experience working for the Government of Canada

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Hours of Work: Normal hours of work of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 37.5 hours per week.
  • Willingness to work overtime on short notice.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.

  • Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
  • Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada.
