Job Description
We are looking for a passionate Software Engineering Manager (m/f/d) who is dedicated to delivering high-quality software solutions and embraces the challenges of the ever-changing web development landscape.
The product development organization is expanding with each new product. Your task within the management team will include:
1. Collaboratively structuring the overall organization for maximum scalability, even across international locations.
2. Leading a team of 4 to 6 software engineers, focusing on hiring, coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development.
3. Creating a cloud-based architecture (AWS) and application environment that is well-tested through automated testing and secure.
4. Actively advancing agile software development practices.
5. Growing and inspiring a culture of engineering excellence and knowledge sharing while retaining team independence and velocity.
6. Facilitating collaboration towards a shared domain-driven architecture and tackling the challenges of multi-team development with solid architectural principles.
7. Participating in technology discussions to ensure an ambitious but achievable software development process, focusing on CI, testing, and operational efficiency.
8. Maintaining and stabilizing current systems while supporting the programming of new systems and integrating them into the international product portfolio.
9. Providing guidance and direction by making difficult decisions and engaging in intense discussions with team members, demonstrating diplomacy and leading by example.
Qualifications
10. Proficient in developing highly scalable software products.
11. Deep understanding of domain-driven software architecture and experience programming with PHP for back-end development and React for front-end development.
12. Ability to write well-architected, efficient, and maintainable code while actively ensuring the quality of the codebase.
13. Comfortable working with senior stakeholders (Directors or C-Suite), both technical and non-technical.
14. Prior experience leading teams in a fast-changing environment.
15. Thinks and acts like an entrepreneur, making decisions based on important business metrics.
16. Willingness to remain hands-on with coding, dedicating approximately 30% of your time to programming tasks.
17. Successfully built and grown teams of engineers in previous roles.
18. Committed to and driven by quality, technical excellence, and results .
19. Fluency in both German and English.
20. Desirable: Experience in finance/insurance and building SaaS solutions or platforms.
