Discover Impactful Work Your tasks and responsibilities will be diverse and exciting, providing you with the opportunity to participate in product development projects across multiple sites worldwide. As part of a collaborative team, you will have the chance to contribute to various areas, including the development of system requirements specifications for new products in collaboration with product marketing. You will also be involved in executing feasibility experiments to demonstrate the proof of principle of new development concepts, and in developing and implementing measurement procedures and data analysis for the control, characterization, and optimization of high-resolution mass spectrometry instruments. This role offers a global perspective and the chance to work on cutting-edge projects that shape the future of our field. Within the project team, you will oversee all aspects related to experiments, including planning, setup, execution, and documentation. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing verification test plans and preparing test summary reports. Your expertise will extend to guiding mechanical and electrical engineers in the development of sub-system requirement specifications. To complete the project cycle, you will also contribute to the development of factory acceptance test procedures in close collaboration with operations, as well as facilitate knowledge transfer to operations, product support, and field service teams, ensuring a smooth transition for newly developed instruments or components. Your contribution will have a significant impact on the success of our projects and the satisfaction of our customers worldwide. A Day in the Life Conception and implementation of feasibility experiments to demonstrate the proof of principle of new development concepts Ensure high experimental quality and deep theoretical penetration throughout all stages of product development, from research to serial production Embrace and overcome complex or novel challenges by developing effective solutions and execution strategies highlighting your problem-solving abilities Collaborate closely with your colleagues to create control software for hardware components Generate documentation as part of the development process, ensuring clear and comprehensive documentation Apply principles, rules, and strategies related to intellectual property when drafting invention disclosures, patents, publications, and presentations, ensuring the protection of innovative ideas and technologies Communicate development status verbally in internal meetings and with external collaborators Keys to Success Proven 1-2 years industrial or 3-5 years academic experience (Ph.D.) in development of sophisticated analytical instrumentation or related technologies Experience in the evaluation of analytical instrumentation based on ion optical techniques from the initial design of experiments to analysis of results Hands on testing and troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic components Understanding of ion optical design, ion or particle simulations in electrical, magnetic and/or gas fields would be appreciated Strong flexibility to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently and structured in a detailed scientific manner Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Live and foster open, respectful, empathic communication and strong collaboration Embrace agile, creative thinking and a growth mindset encouraging a culture of continuous learning and improvement, fueling your passion to overcome boundaries in science and technology.
