About the Role:
My Client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team. This role will be responsible for the financial and contractual management of projects from pre-contract to final account stage. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, with experience in industrial or engineering projects being a distinct advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare, review, and manage cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
* Manage subcontractor procurement, including preparation of tender documentation and evaluation of bids.
* Monitor and control project costs throughout the lifecycle of the project.
* Assess, value, and negotiate subcontractor variations and final accounts.
* Assist in preparing monthly valuations and commercial reporting.
* Identify commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies.
* Support contract negotiation, administration, and compliance with relevant terms and conditions.
* Liaise with project managers, site engineers, procurement, and finance teams to ensure commercial alignment.
* Maintain records of project variations, changes, and correspondence.
* Provide input into project planning and programming.
Requirements:
Essential:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
* Strong knowledge of construction contracts, ideally NEC and FIDIC.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and QS software (e.g. Cubit, CostX, or similar).
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic project environment.
Desirable:
* Experience in the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, or heavy engineering sectors.
* Professional membership with SCSI, RICS, or similar body.
* Familiarity with fabrication, welding, or mechanical engineering projects.
