Position: Geography Expert
Type: Contract
Compensation: $65–$73/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 20 hours/week
Role Responsibilities
* Author technical tasks to evaluate AI model performance in geography and earth sciences.
* Review and annotate problem sets using maps, satellite imagery, GIS output, and topographic figures.
* Produce original problem sets and write reference solutions with structured quality checks.
* Collaborate with AI research teams to improve model outputs and training data quality.
* Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines and enhance AI model performance.
Qualifications
Must-Have
* PhD in Geography, Earth Sciences, or GIS; or MS with 3+ years applied research, cartography, or GIS experience; or BA/BS with 5+ years applied GIS, cartography, or field experience.
* Working fluency in at least two of: physical geography, human geography, GIS, remote sensing, cartography.
* Comfortable with maps, satellite imagery, GIS output, and topographic figures.
* Clear technical writing; articulate reasoning step-by-step in written form.
