Business Development Manager (m/f/d) Clinical Trial Services

Within this framework, our Clinical Trial Services (CTS) division plays a pivotal role in advancing strategic partnerships with sponsors, CROs, and CDMOs to deliver high-impact solutions across the clinical trial supply chain.
As part of our business development strategy, the CTS team is responsible for designing and executing customized comparator sourcing models that meet the complex demands of clinical studies. Leveraging PHOENIX’s pan-European infrastructure, we ensure access to commercially available medicinal products at competitive conditions—without compromising on quality, compliance, or availability.
We are looking for a Business Development Manager (m/f/d) Clinical Trial Services at our headquarters in Mannheim.
Your Tasks
1. Design and implement customized sourcing models for clinical trials, leveraging PHOENIX’s pan-European wholesale infrastructure to ensure regulatory-compliant, cost-effective access to medicinal products.
2. Drive the development and delivery of GMP-compliant repackaging, clinical labeling, and depot distribution services tailored to the logistical and regulatory needs of clinical studies.
3. Lead initiatives to integrate PHOENIX’s retail pharmacy network into the CTS offering, enabling decentralized Patient Recruitment and Pharmacy Services. Establish this capability as a unique differentiator within the European clinical trial supply landscape.
4. Cultivate strategic relationships with sponsors, CROs, and CDMOs to expand PHOENIX’s CTS footprint and co-develop innovative service models.
5. Identify and implement improvements across the CTS supply chain to enhance service quality, reduce time-to-site, and ensure compliance with international clinical trial standards.
6. Monitor industry trends and regulatory developments to inform CTS strategy and guide the expansion of PHOENIX’s service portfolio in alignment with future market needs.
7. Ensure all important documents and communications are saved in the shared drive.
8. Responsible for achieving annual revenue, margin and sales targets.
9. Participate in client and country meetings and prepare meeting minutes for record keeping.
10. Strictly adhere to GMP/GDP guidelines and internal SOPs.
11. Assist in identifying new business opportunities and developing strategies to expand our market reach. Collaborate with CTS team members to enhance client relationships and drive growth initiatives.
12. Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions that align with their clinical trial requirements. Assist in preparing proposals and presentations to effectively communicate our offerings.
13. Attend Clinical Trial Supply conferences and industry events to network, gather insights, and represent PHOENIX’s capabilities and services.
Your Profile
14. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
15. Proven expertise in business development and strategic sourcing, with a strong understanding of the clinical trial supply landscape and stakeholder dynamics.
16. In-depth knowledge of comparator sourcing and CTS services, including regulatory frameworks, operational models, and market trends.
17. Strategic mindset with a high degree of adaptability, capable of navigating complex environments and driving innovation in a fast-paced, international setting.
18. Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to guide cross-functional teams and foster alignment across departments and geographies.
19. Exceptional organizational and prioritization capabilities, managing multiple high-impact initiatives simultaneously with precision and accountability.
20. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence senior decision-makers and external partners.
