At the University of Bielefeld, you have the unique chance to join the effort to establish a modern Medical School. The University of Bielefeld, Medical School OWL went operational in the academic year 2021/2022.
At the professorship of Clinical Radiology (Prof. Michel Eisenblätter MD, PhD), an interdisciplinary research group for translational imaging research, led by Dr. Sabrina Marcazzan, DVM, PhD, is currently being established. Working with scientists in natural science, veterinary and human medicine, imaging methods are being developed and used to address research topics from oncology, immunology and infectiology.
Within the collaboration project „ColoBIOTA“, novel methods will be developed for the characterization of the microbiome in the tumor microenviroment. These tools will provide insight into the role of the intratumoral microbiome on the development of cancer (e. g. colorectal cancer).
Together with collaborators from the Medical School OWL (Dr. Hanna Bednarz), the Faculty of Physics (Prof. Dr. Thomas Huser) and the Faculty of Chemistry (Prof. Dr. Thomas Hellweg), we will analyze bacteria-derived Outer Membrane Vesicles (OMVs), MVs and the spatial organization of bacteria populations.
The aim is to establish methods with translational potential for the use in preclinical models and subsequent clinical studies.
The position is initially limited to 2 years, a 1-year-extension is aimed for. Your Tasks
1. research (70 %) imaging of metabolic processes and bacteria (MALDI-MSI, super-resolution microscopy) isolation and characterization of OMVs and MVs from tissues and organs analysis of the identified metabolites/vesicles in vitro and in vivo publication and presentation of research results communication and exchange with the project´s collaborators
