At the Faculty IV: School of Science and Technology, Department of Civil Engineering, Chair of Structural Analysis, we are seeking to fill a position for a research associate at the earliest possible date, under the following conditions:
1. Full-time position (100% = 39,83 hours / week)
2. Salary group 13 TV-L
3. Initial contract duration of 3 years, with the possibility of extension
Your tasks:
In structural dynamics, traditional numerical analyses, particularly time-domain simulations, face significant computational challenges, especially when nonlinear effects are involved. To accelerate these demanding simulations, we are developing data-driven modeling approaches. The goal is to enhance the efficiency of structural design process and establish a basis for real-time applications such as digital twins and adaptive structural systems. You will contribute to achieving this goal through the following responsibilities:
4. Research in structural dynamics with a focus on modeling system responses
5. Development of data-driven methods, especially using artificial neural networks
6. Publication of research results in renowned journals and conferences
7. Supporting the chair in teaching, e.g. by supervising exercises and thesis work (teaching obligation: 4 semester hours per week)
Your profile:
Would you like to actively contribute to advancing data-driven methods in structural dynamics and thrive working independently in an interdisciplinary environment? Then you are an ideal candidate if you possess the following qualifications:
8. University degree (Master) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering or Computational Science and Engineering
9. Solid understanding of structural dynamics or numerical methods, demonstrated by successful completion of advanced coursework, thesis, or project work
10. Confident communication skills in German and English (B2 level or higher according to CEFR)
11. Foundational programming skills in Python or MATLAB
12. Strong time management skills and a high level of initiative
