Hauptaufgaben
Position uses FED LOG, ARMY LOG, G-ARMY system and technical libraries to identify items without documentation or markings, and the federal supply system for condition classification. Prepares repair estimates in determining whether an item is economically or uneconomically repairable. Applies knowledge of proper packaging, packing, and preservation methods and random sampling procedures to the acceptance/rejection of lots of materiel and performs duties for control and classification of shelf life materiel.
Incumbent applies the corresponding technical knowledge, and materiel identification and quality inspection methods procedures, standards and regulations required for the performance of below listed inspection duties.
As directed, conducts final acceptance, care and preservation, receiving, shipping, and In-Storage and/or demilitarization inspections of regulated, sensitive, and critical items such as industrial and combat type major equipment and components and major assemblies.
Reviews data indicated on accompanying documents of material for completeness, correctness, and conformity with supplies to determine or verify identity. Refers to a wide variety of reference material. Reads and interprets catalog item descriptions to determine which major components must be attached to items. Conducts extensive and exhaustive searches for information required for materials identification. Applies own experience to establish proper identity of materiel received without documents and any other identification markings.
Inspects items applying visual, audial, or operational test methods to determine condition code and degree of serviceability. Checks for deficiencies affecting quality such as dents, broken and missing parts, grade of corrosion, worn threads, torn wires, blocked gears, exceeded shelf-life etc. Refers to material category structure code and code reference guide to select appropriate condition code symbol to be assigned according to criteria such as age of item, repair cost allowance, item life time etc. Submits material or samples to laboratories or test shops for examinations, analysis or tests. Initiates evaluation of defective materiel for repair or other disposition.
Observes care and preservation processes to insure proper disassembly and reassembly of equipment and repair and replacement of parts. Assists production personnel in remedying unexpected difficulties and pinpointing processes or actions that could detrimentally affect the quality of the final product.
Keeps abreast with technological changes, equipment refinements, advanced inspection techniques, and equipment operations changes. Initiates correction of discrepancies found in technical manuals. Compiles inspection feedback and history data. Prepares item discrepancy reports. Records and prepares feeder data on work accomplishments.
Performs other duties as assigned.

E&T Levels I: 3 years of creditable experience type a, defined below; and 1 year of creditable experience type b, defined below.
E&T Levels II: 2 years of creditable experience type a, defined below; and 1 year of experience type b, defined below.
E&T Levels III A is creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization/certification to the trade of the position; PLUS 1 year of creditable experience type a, defined below; and 1 year of experience type b, defined below.
E&T level, III B, C PLUS 1 year of creditable experience type b, defined below.
E&T Levels IV A, B, and C, are creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization/certification to the trade of the position; no additional experience required.
E&T level, IV D is not creditable to use for substitution of experience. Individuals with these E&T Levels must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the trade of the position.
E&T Level V: creditable with a directly or closely related field of study to the trade of the position; no additional experience required. If the study is not in a directly or closely related field, the individuals must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the trade of the position.
Creditable Experience Type a: Journeyman or equivalent level experience in the trade or in a closely related trade that is to be performed in the position. Creditable Experience Type b: Experience as an inspector or specialist in the same or similar trade in the same or similar position. Creditable experience must have been gained at a level of difficulty that is comparable to the next lower grade.
Exceptions:
(1) Current employees in the same or similar inspector or specialist positions who have served one year in their current grade qualify for the next higher grade, regardless of their E&T Level. (2) Current employees who have served one year in a foreman position without official certification as foreman (Meisterbrief) in the same or similar occupation qualify up to the C-6 level. (3) In the absence of qualified applicants, a waiver of qualification requirements may be initiated in order to promote or reassignment current employees who have already been performing same or similar work.

E&T level I, IIA, III B and C and IV D: Not acceptable for positions in this occupational series.
E&T Levels IIB: Only creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization/certification to the trade of the position; PLUS 2 years of creditable experience type a, defined below; and 1 year of experience type b, defined below.

E&T Level V: creditable with a directly or closely related field of study to the trade of the position; no additional experience required. If the study is not in a directly or closely related field, the individuals must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the trade of the position.

This is a permanent fulltime position (38.5 hrs./week).
• If requirement exists, the incumbent of this position is obligated to perform TDY within and outside Germany, shift and overtime work and/or on call duty.
