About the Role Supporting our development team, the Project Developer (Technical Lead) will lead the technical support of BESS projects from initial to late-stage development including securing permits, grid connection, project layouts, SLD’s, equipment selection and procurement. You will collaborate with internal support roles and lead external consultants to ensure successful project delivery. During the preliminary development phase, assess and/or create initial constraints mapping and perform engineering fatal flaw analysis Create preliminary through 20% engineering designs, including site plans and electrical single line diagrams identifying cost and other improvement opportunities Meet with local municipalities to gain confidence in the project and secure necessary permits to advance the project Source and manage third-party engineers and consultants in association with all phases of design Develop technical specifications and project requirements that inform EPC scope of work, equipment selection, and operations and maintenance plans. Track technical changes, design status, and risks for each project. Update leadership and project team of pertinent information, potential risks, financial or timeline changes. With support of third parties and suppliers, optimize project design, constructability reviews, and review of construction documents. Lead the review and approval process of all phases of project designs in the execution phase, including civil, structural, electrical, and SCADA design. Assist team with equipment procurement process and supplier selection Support site visits with contractors and equipment suppliers; advise on site constructability, and civil engineering considerations Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to quickly address project challenges This is a permanent contract opportunity. The position is a hybrid role with the expectation to be in our Freiburg office at least 2 days per month. About You You have meaningful experience in the renewable energy industry with a strong understanding of technical fatal flaws, engineering layouts, site design, and optimization. You’re commercially minded and eager to collaborate cross-functionally to find creative solutions to technical challenges. At least 3 years of relevant experience within project development, construction, or design of renewable energy projects You speak German fluently, and English to a B2 level minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent (electrical preferred) Technical advisory experience with investors, project developers and experience with BESS plant design dealing with technical advisory support Proven experience in technical review communication with client and other project parties (utilities, BoP, EPC, etc) Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities in parallel, and delegate to external resources Technically proficient in AutoCAD, QGIS, and other applicable software design packages Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time Must have a valid current driver's license and be able to travel and perform field work.
