Position Overview:

Project Details:
The candidate will work on the Data-Driven Energy Transition NCER Project (D2ET), accelerating the energy transition in Luxembourg. This project co-creates a research program utilizing a data-driven approach to support decision-making for an optimal energy system. The focus is on cost-effectiveness, emission reduction, and social acceptability.
Responsibilities:
In this context, the candidate will design and implement a cutting-edge international Energy System Model delivering comprehensive energy economic insights. This supports further research and development within a strong team environment. The candidate will develop an innovative approach to renewable energy system modelling, create scenarios of the energy transition, conduct policy analyses and technology evaluation.
Requirements:
1. A Master's degree in a related field, such as Energy Policy, Energy Economics, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Operations Research
2. Strong knowledge of quantitative and/or computational research methods, ideally in numerical optimization and simulation models
3. Proficiency in one of the major programming languages, such as Python
4. A collaborative team player with a desire to make a personal impact within our research group and broader economy and society
5. The commitment to participate in the design, implementation, and theoretical elaboration of high-quality solutions solving significant real-world economic problems in the energy domain
6. Self-initiative, creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and enthusiasm to work
7. English-language proficiency for both written and verbal communication required
8. Knowledge of French, German, and/or Luxembourgish an asset
