2. Lead the design, development, and prototyping of optical subassemblies, with a focus on fiber-to-chip integration.
3. Translate customer and market requirements into robust product concepts and engineering solutions.
4. Validate product performance through advanced simulations, lab testing, and iterative prototyping.
5. Ensure all designs meet applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
6. Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and design teams to align product features with user needs and business goals.
7. Facilitate and contribute to design reviews, risk assessments (e.g., FMEA), and continuous improvement initiatives.
8. Support seamless transition of designs into scalable manufacturing processes.
9. Document design processes, test results, and product specifications in clear, comprehensive technical reports.
Required Education:
10. Master's Degree, or similar, in Electrical Engineering, Optical Physics or related discipline.
Required Skills:
11. Minimum of 5 years experience in the fiber-optic communications, photonic semiconductors, or optical components industry, with a proven track record in successful product developments and new product introductions.
12. Thorough understanding and practical expertise in the manufacturing processes of optical components, with a focus on quality and design for manufacturing (DFM).
13. Solid foundational knowledge of optical fibers and connectors for datacenter applications.
14. Demonstrated expertise in optical design, mechanical design, material properties, and precision assembly, with a focus on applications in the optical components field.
15. Proficiency in CAD and optical simulation tools, specifically with ProE, Ansys Interconnect, Zemax or similar software, with the ability to create and modify complex designs.
16. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel for data analysis and presentation.
Desired Requirements:
17. Six-Sigma Green Belt
18. Experience in software programming (e.g. C, C++, Matlab, Labview, Phyton)
19. Excellent English (spoken and written), German language skills is a plus
