Overview
BIOWEG is looking for a Lab Manager with experience in laboratory operations to oversee both our labs in Quakenbrück and Monheim. This role requires splitting time between the sites and ensuring all lab activities are conducted safely, efficiently and in compliance with German regulatory standards.
This role allows you to apply your organizational skills while leading and developing the operations of both labs in a growing startup.
Your Role
* Ensure compliance with all German laboratory safety standards, regulations and mandatory trainings
* Oversee and maintain laboratory operations in both Quakenbrück and Monheim
* Ensure GMO regulations are strictly followed and all necessary permits and documentation are up to date
* Maintain and update all lab documentation, protocols and safety records
* Train lab teams on safety procedures, regulatory compliance and proper laboratory practices
* Coordinate lab resources, equipment and consumables to ensure smooth operations
* Monitor and enforce safety measures and risk management protocols across both sites
* Facilitate internal audits and inspections, ensuring both labs meet compliance requirements
* Support cross-functional teams by providing guidance on laboratory processes and compliance issues
Your Profile
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Life Sciences or a related field
* Proven experience managing laboratory operations, ideally in a biotech or chemical environment
* Comprehensive knowledge of German lab safety regulations, GMP and GMO compliance
* Experience training and supervising lab teams
* Strong organizational and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail
* Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
* Valid driver’s license and access to a car for travel between sites
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment
