Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:
Responsible for the preparation of the Group’s consolidated financial statements and related disclosures according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal policies and guidelines by managing the Consolidated Accounting team. The consolidated financial statements are prepared in order to inform and report to internal and external stakeholders – e.g. Supervisory Board, Executive Board and investors’ community (through Investors Relation) – the performance, financial position and changes in financial position of the adidas Group.
Key Responsibilities:
* Independently manage and be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the complete consolidated financial statements
o Full responsibility for the timely and accurate production of the complete consolidated financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow and related disclosures.
o Lead the team in order to produce timely and accurate quarterly internal reports and analysis with focus on external reporting requirements in particular Balance Sheet movements to management
o Accountable that updates of IFRS/Group Finance Manual are reflected in the consolidated financial statements
o Global key contact person for accounting and reporting issues in relation to month /quarter end and coordination of reporting issues between markets/brands, FSSC and Group functions (e.g. management/non-management reporting)
o Actively collaborate with Investor Relation and Group Planning & Reporting in the financial analysis and reporting to Senior Management and external stakeholders (preparation of the annual report, quarterly shareholder and supervisory board information and annual general meeting)
* Sign off of all consolidation bookings - ensure correctness of manual and automatic consolidation postings within GRAPE (SAP SEM-BCS) and integration of new companies in the consolidation process (including PPA) as well as the divestiture of companies/ disposal groups
* Annual and Quarterly reports - Proof reading and number checking of the external annual / quarterly report and contact for IR Manager and Head of IR
* Responsible for the implementation and execution of effective internal controls in regards to the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, which fulfil the documentation requirements of the ICS framework of the adidas Group
* Act as key business partner for specific complex markets/subsidiaries (e.g. North America, North, the BV’s) for accounting and reporting issues (via visits, telephone, e-mail and through training) and review their financial statements
* Ensure a service function and act as the main counterpart for other peers and Senior Management of other Group HQ Finance functions (e.g. Group Treasury, HQ Finance, Investor Relations, Group Taxes) for accounting and legal reporting related topics
* Lead finance internal projects affecting the consolidation process or the consolidated financial statements (e.g. enhancements of consolidation/reporting system (GRAPE), simplify intercompany reconciliation process) and be involved in cross functional projects
* Continuously improve and challenge the status quo of processes with regard to the area of responsibility
* Leads and development of team members by setting priorities and performance objectives, providing feedback and implementing an individual training plan.
* Create an environment that enables and motivates team members to perform to their maximum potential and maintaining strong team spirit
* Develop functional, technical and social skills within the team by providing guidance and leadership to them
* Provide training, mentorship and leadership to define standards, processes and procedures within own area of responsibility but also in the larger circle of concern within the finance department
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Contemporary detailed knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
* Comprehensive understanding of group consolidation processes
* Strong accounting knowledge and broad understanding of overall finance including tax and treasury
* Excellent organization and time management skills
* Analytical mindset balanced with communication skills
* Strong people management skills, ability to coach, guide and develop a team
* Well-developed PC-skills (MS-Office), ideally SAP BCS or other consolidation software
* Fluent in English and German
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications
* Degree in Business Administration from a university or comparable institution with focus on accounting
* Job-Experience (at least 8 to 10 years) in an audit company or consolidation/ accounting department of an international corporation
