Primobius is the result of a joint venture between Australian stock exchange-listed Neometals Ltd. and privately owned German plant engineering and technology specialist SMS group GmbH. Primobius offers a unique and sustainable method of recovering valuable lithium, nickel, cobalt, and other materials, for example carbon, from end-of-life or defective lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) from electric vehicles and consumer electronics. The recovered battery materials can be used directly in the production of new batteries.

YOU ACT
You are responsible for the technical development and engineering in order execution of our Li-Battery Recycling Products, in close collaboration with various departments. Your responsibilities include, among others:
1. Will own technical integrity, innovation, and delivery excellence for plant engineering, ensuring safe, efficient and scalable solutions
2. Define Product Vision - Establish and communicate the vision, goals, and strategy of the product to and with all stakeholders
3. Create, maintain and prioritize product development, and refine the product backlog, ensuring it is visible, transparent, and clear to all
4. Should be able to develop and implement standard engineering practices
5. Ensure the engineering, supply chain and site support for projects in execution as per contractual requirements
6. Coordinate basic- and detail engineering as applicable. Perform basic engineering tasks as needed (e.g. schematics review and edit, BoM edits, vendor technical queries, test-plan development, field troubleshooting)
7. Support Business Development / Sales for the evaluation of potential innovations and to benchmark competition’s portfolio, as well as for significant sales projects
8. Drive selected innovations from the first process idea to industrialized solution, in close cooperation with R&D and project management
9. Drive standardization to lower total project costs and customer’s Opex, starting with the technical process of the product, ending at basic engineering and sub vendor selection
10. Oversee design reviews, technical risk assessments (FMEA, HAZOP inputs) and safety-critical system validation
YOU KNOW
You have successfully completed an engineering degree above average, in mechanical and/or process engineering. We value:
11. Excellent conceptual and analytical skills and ability to quickly familiarize yourself with disciplines outside your field
12. Hands-on capability – being able to perform basic calculations, interpret P&IDs, read/create electrical/mechanical drawings, and validate BOMs
13. Proven experience in engineering, as a product owner or similar role in product management or design engineering, preferably in the recycling or environmental sector
14. Knowledge and familiarity with welding & machining symbols, knowledge of strength of materials
15. Thorough knowledge of National & International Standards (DIN, EN, ISO, ASME etc.) and knowledge and familiarity with of Fits/Tolerances, Geometric Tolerances and Dimensioning
16. Hands on experience on AutoCAD and 3D (CREO) or similar and knowledge and familiarity of FEM analysis
17. Ability to mentor and develop engineering talent; recruit and build high-performing teams
18. Technical background or understanding of recycling equipment and technologies is a plus
19. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively. Good verbal and written communication skills (in German and English)
20. High social competence and resilience, as well as a willingness to travel
