We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Geesthacht, Germany. The position also provides support to additional Sensient locations.
What you’ll do:
1. Manage the full cycle of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment runs, customer billing, and cash applications.
2. Reconcile vendor and customer accounts, resolving discrepancies and maintaining accurate records.
3. Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
4. Maintain and update the general ledger in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.
5. Prepare financial statements, and analysis as needed by management.
6. Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring timely collection and payment processing.
7. Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve accounting and billing queries.
8. Assist with audits, provide supporting documentation and responding to inquiries.
9. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and financial controls.
10. Demonstrated strong communication skills when working with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve billing and payment inquiries.
What you’ll bring:
11. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
12. Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience covering AP, AR, and general accounting responsibilities.
13. Fluency in German and English (written and spoken) required; French is an asset.
14. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Excel is must.
15. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
16. High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
17. Experience in an international or multicultural environment preferred.
