Ribbon Communications is seeking a highly skilled IP Optical Sales Engineer to support our strategic expansion in the IP Optical market. This role focuses on advanced network infrastructure, including IP/MPLS routing, packet transport, and optical networking solutions. This role works closely with the sales team to develop business opportunities in the German speaking countries and other countries in Central Europe. Key Responsibilities Lead technical pre-sales activities including network design, architecture development, and delivery of high-quality technical solution offer. Serve as a subject matter expert in IP/MPLS, packet transport, and optical networking technologies Provide regional pre-sales support for Ribbon's IP Optical product lines Collaborate with Product Management and Chief Architect teams to align technical solutions with business strategies Deliver technical presentations, coordinate lab trials and proofs of concept to validate Ribbon's technology offerings Support the Sales Team in the Sales process: Analyzing the ability to meet the needs of potential customers and putting together technical solution descriptions. Presenting and selling the proposed technological solutions to partners and customers with the assistance of the Sales Manager Prepare technical response for Bids and RFXs Creating and retaining positive ongoing relationships with customers & partners Education and Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in Telecom Sales Engineering or Product Line Management Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field Fluent German and English language skills (min. level C1) Strong pre-sales experience in L1-L3 Network Engineering Expertise in IP/MPLS network protocols, including: OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, Segment Routing, RSVP, LDP, Multicast protocols (IGMP, PIM), Multicast VPN (MVPN), SRv6 MEF Services, VPLS, VPWS, EVPN Understanding of network services: L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN Industry networking certifications (e.g., Juniper, Cisco) Ability to build strong relationships with partners/customers and communicate complex concepts effectively Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Permission to work in Germany or Switzerland. Must be able to pass standard EU security check for people working in critical infrastructure.
