Job Description
As the Head of IT, you’ll be the central leader responsible for the stability, scalability and security of Retail Media Operations. You will own the uptime of our vast, customer‑facing network of in‑store devices. You will manage the entire lifecycle of this hardware, from large‑scale customer rollouts to end‑of‑life. You won’t be just managing an IT department; you’ll be running the technical operations for a distributed, physical‑world media network, building and leading the teams and processes that guarantee our solutions “just work.”
This is a hybrid position with three days per week in our Berlin office (at Alexanderplatz).
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and consolidate IT operations, infrastructure (network, servers, cloud) and security policies for Retail Media.
* Collaborate with internal corporate IT support teams, ensuring employees have secure and efficient tools (e.g., O365, ERP, CRM, identity management).
* Develop and execute a long‑term IT strategy that supports business scalability, M&A integration and robust security compliance (ISO 27001, GDPR).
* Lead the strategy and execution for large‑scale hardware rollouts to retail stores, managing device configuration.
* Implement and manage robust remote monitoring and Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems for the entire fleet of distributed devices.
* Own uptime: design, implement and enforce strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for all production devices and systems.
* Build and lead a world‑class incident management process; chief escalation point for service‑degrading issues.
* Ensure rapid detection, escalation, root‑cause analysis (RCA) and resolution for all incidents.
* Establish and manage a clear communication protocol for stakeholders during critical incidents.
* Lead, mentor and grow a high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary team of IT professionals covering internal support, network engineering and field operations.
* Manage the IT budget, including forecasting for hardware procurement, software licensing and operational services.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, proactive problem‑solving and operational excellence.
Qualifications
* Proven IT Leadership: 8+ years of experience in IT, including at least 4 years in a senior management role.
* Critical Field Ops Experience: Proven experience managing distributed, customer‑facing hardware networks (POS systems, digital signage, ATMs, kiosks, IoT device networks).
* Incident Management Expert: Expertise in ITIL frameworks, especially Incident Management, Problem Management and Service Level Management; calm and decisive under pressure.
* Technical Breadth: Strong background in corporate IT (networking, security, cloud infrastructure) and operational technology (hardware logistics, device monitoring, remote management).
* Project & Vendor Management: Track record of managing complex, large‑scale hardware rollout projects and negotiating with third‑party vendors and service providers.
* Leadership Style: Hands‑on, proactive leader who can build a strategy but also dive into details of a major incident.
* Business Fluency: Excellent communication skills in English and German required.
Benefits
* Allied Corporate Pension Scheme.
* Personalized Benefits Platform with €100/month budget for mobility support, internet allowance, daycare subsidy, Urban Sports Club membership, personal development and shopping vouchers.
* Mind‑wellness support via Nilo Health Workplace Mental Health Solution.
* Annual training budget & internal webinars, plus German/English classes to level up language skills.
* 27 paid vacation days + 3 wellness days per year, plus public holidays.
