Hauptaufgaben
Works under the direction of a Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist, who provides general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities and policies and relies upon the incumbent to control work operations and accomplish and adequate quantity and quality of work. Work is reviewed for efficient and economical accomplishment within priorities and controls received.
Serves as Foreman (Meister) over a shop, exercising full supervisory responsibility for control over work operations involving approximately 7-15 (Ave. Range) subordinate workers. The occupation and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operation supervised are the journeyman level structural and maintenance positions (e.g. cement finisher) and leader.
Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Establishes/coordinates and controls special requirements. Establishes deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. Determines how many assignments can be done concurrently, how many must be delayed and the number of types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, materials and equipment available and required.
Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods and procedures, instructs subordinates in new procedures and provides advice when problems arise. Reviews work in progress or on completion. Adjusts plans, assignments and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Determines equipment, supplies at work site as needed. Coordinates work of unit with other units that may be involved. Prepares plans using GIS Data and CAD Data from automation systems.
Interviews and selects subordinates. Schedules and approve leave of subordinates. Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Counsels employees on problems; adjusts informal complaints through discussion with employees and Works Council representatives. Takes informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Initiates proposals for disciplinary actions where needed.
Participates in budgeting process and requisitioning of supplies and equipment and in work management planning meeting with superiors. Promotes the participation of subordinates in programs such as cost reduction program, etc. Maintains production reports and records. Periodically reviews Job Descriptions of subordinates for currency and accuracy; reports detailing of employees to jobs other than their own; initiates or participates in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary ones and achieve optimum content in those remaining.
Personally performs non-supervisory duties for short duration, particularly when work process changes or new methods are introduced and may serve in the absence of the supervisor. Operates a motor vehicle requiring a German Class CE driver's license and corresponding US Army permit. Is part of the Snow and Ice removal team.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung und erfolgreich abgelegte Meisterpruefung im entsprechenden Handwerk.
Fuer innerbetriebliche Arbeitnehmer gilt: der Meisterbrief kann mit einer abgeschlossenen Berufsausbildung im entsprechenden Handwerk und 5 Jahren Berufserfahrung in der Lohngruppe A-6 oder A-7 im entsprechenden Handwerk ersetzt werden.
A completed apprenticeship and a Master degree (Meisterbrief).
Internal applicants can substitute the Master degree with a completed apprenticeship and at least 5 years of experience at the journeyman level at the A-6 or A-7 in the appropriate trade.

• Es handelt sich um eine unbefristete Vollzeitstelle (38.5 Std. /Woche). / This is a perm. full-time position (38.5 hrs /week).
• Der Stelleninhaber dieser Position ist verpflichtet gelegentlich Dienstreisen durchzuführen. / The incumbent of this position is occasionally required to perform TDY (Temporary Duty Travel).
