Stellendetails zu: postdoc position (f, m, d)

Göttingen
Georg-August-Universität Zentr. Universitätsverwaltung
Inserat online seit: 24 Februar
Beschreibung

The Institute for X-ray Physics of the University of Göttingen welcomes applications for a
Postdoc Position (f, m, d)
starting as soon as possible. The salary is based on TV-L E13 (full position, currently 39.8 hours/week). The position is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) until 30.09.2028.
Within this project, we will design and build a novel synchrotron setup to combine x-ray scattering with light microscopy. The newly built setup will then be used to investigate a variety of relevant biological systems. The project is a collaboration between the University of Göttingen (Germany) and the European Synchrotron (ESRF) in Grenoble (France), and involves frequent work trips between the two institutions. The postdoc will therefore be able to build a strong network both within the synchrotron and the biophysics communities, on a European level.
We are looking for a candidate, who
Holds a Master’s degree with excellent grades and a PhD in physics, biophysics, physical chemistry or a related field
Has several years of experience in working on scientific projects
Is fluent in English
Has solid programming skills and is interested in finding innovative, creative solutions
Is experienced or at least strongly interested in synchrotron experiments, preferably in scanning nano-SAXS
Or, alternatively, offers advanced experience with light microscopy.

What we offer

An international, interdisciplinary, flexible and motivating working environment
Mentoring by advanced researchers
Advanced career support (professional skills courses)
The University of Göttingen is an equal opportunities employer and places particular emphasis on fostering career opportunities for women. Qualified women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply as they are underrepresented in the field. The university has committed itself to being a family-friendly institution and supports their employees in balancing work and family life. The mission of the University is to employ a greater number of severely disabled persons. Applications from severely disabled persons with equivalent qualifications will be given preference.
To apply for this position, please send your application documents to sarah.koester@uni-goettingen.de as a single PDF file including items in this order: cover letter, CV, list of publications, summary of relevant previous work (maximum one page), certificates and transcripts of previous degrees (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD), two names of senior researchers, who are willing to provide reference letters.
Please submit your application by February 15, 2026. Please indicate the job announcement ID. If you have any questions, please contact Prof. Dr Sarah Köster ( sarah.koester@uni-goettingen.de ), +49-551-39 29429). For more information about the research group, please visit the institute webpage.
