Our team is a diverse one, based out of varying European offices and working closely with colleagues in APAC and the US. The Sr. Financial Analyst is a key member of the broader EU FP&A team and will be based in Berlin, Luxembourg, London or Dublin, reporting into the into the FP&A Manager, based in Paris.
Your way to impact:
The core aspects of the role include business partnering, budgeting, forecasting, target setting, analytics & building complex financial models. The individual will establish the critical link of digging deep into the data including non-financial metrics to determine the causes of trends, identifying anomalies, spotting opportunities etc. and in the process help the business determine focus areas. The role will go further into helping the business make better decisions, pre-empt future trends and take corrective actions to ensure PayPal remains on track to meet its short-term and long-term goals.
Your day-to-day:
1. Analyze and explain TPV, revenue, margin and other financial KPIs, including detailed weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual trend analysis across various dimensions of the business such as product, merchant segments, and regions; identify potential business opportunities/risks.
2. Partner closely with business and finance teams to design and implement a robust financial analytical review framework to ensure financial and strategic objectives are met.
3. Provide regional senior leadership with timely, accurate, and insightful financial analysis to monitor business KPIs and financial results to enable key strategic decision-making.
4. Coordinate and communicate with global and regional FP&A teams to ensure alignment and consistency of data and messaging, and to ensure information flows seamlessly across the various segments, product and market finance teams.
5. Drive best practices and identify areas of improvement and make recommendations to optimize processes or analytics tools.
6. Support other FP&A teams as required and contribute to specific ad-hoc projects.
What do you need to bring:
7. Solid experience gained as a Senior Finance Analyst, Financial Controller, Senior FP&A analyst ideally in a fast growing, complex, medium/large company environment within the Technology, eCommerce, Payments or Financial Services sectors.
8. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or related field. Additional business qualification like MBA/CFA/CPA is a plus.
9. Proven experience in presenting and effectively communicating insights and recommendations to a diverse range of stakeholders, across different functions and levels of seniority, including senior leadership.
10. Ability to work across functions, organization & geographies and influence peers and more senior colleagues.
11. Ability to work with ambiguity and passion for problem solving.
12. Not afraid to wear multiple hats - no job being too small or too large.
13. Advanced knowledge of MS Office package (Excel and PowerPoint) and SQL.
14. Familiarity with Essbase/Thinkcell/Phyton/CRM tools is a plus.
