Senior Software Engineer, Backend – Tools for Humanity
Join our team to architect and build the core biometric verification system that scales to billions of users. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Proof of Personhood Team, you will drive the development of our multi‑party computation (MPC) backend written in Rust and the broader backend ecosystem in Golang.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and build highly scalable, secure, and performant backend systems in Rust and Golang to support our biometric verification process.
* Own key application components, driving the full development lifecycle from design through deployment and maintenance.
* Operate and manage cloud infrastructure with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, shape priorities, and deliver cohesive products.
* Participate in on‑call rotation for incident management and application support.
About You
* 5+ years of experience designing and operating scalable software applications in production.
* Deep expertise in Golang or Rust; proficiency in both is a major plus.
* Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native technologies, especially AWS and Kubernetes.
* Experience building large‑scale distributed systems and microservice architectures.
* Comfortable with ambiguity, fast‑paced environments, and a strong MVP mindset.
* Excellent communication, ownership, and teamwork skills.
* Nice to have: experience with MongoDB.
Benefits & Compensation
Salary range: €135,000 – €180,000 (Munich), plus a competitive long‑term incentive package and variable compensation. All compensation reflects skills, qualifications, and experience.
