As an employer, the university offers excellent working conditions in a wide range of professions in teaching, research, and administration. Currently, 170 professors and 500 employees actively contribute to a practice-oriented study program in which teaching and research are intertwined.
At HTW Dresden, in the Laboratory of Prof. Dr. Schramm, Organic Chemistry in the Faculty of Agriculture, Environment & Chemistry the position as a PhD Candidate or Postdoctoral Researcher is to be filled at the earliest possible date.
Your Tasks:
* Research in bioluminescence and chemiluminescence with a focus on new emitter systems and ultrasensitive analytical applications
* Spectroscopic investigations (steady-state and time-resolved; emission kinetics, quantum yield/brightness, photon counting/TCSPC)
* Organic synthesis of luminophores, precursors, and probes; optional bio-conjugation/click chemistry
* (Bio)analytical assay development (e.g., microplate luminometry, BRET/CRET, enzyme-coupled assays), validation and benchmarking
* Mechanistic studies (kinetics, isotope/ROS controls, radical and singlet-oxygen trapping, electron/energy-transfer mapping)
* Optional: instrumentation & data acquisition, microfluidics, computational photochemistry (DFT/TD-DFT), or statistical/kinetic modeling
* Scientific writing (manuscripts, reports), presentation of results, contribution to collaborative projects; support of lab organization and student supervision
* On-site, laboratory-based work in Dresden
Your Profile:
For PhD: completed Master's (or equivalent) in Chemistry or related field.
For Postdoc: completed PhD in Chemistry or related field.
* Proven strengths in one or more of: spectroscopy, organic synthesis, luminescent molecules, bioanalytical assay development, mechanistic/kinetic analysis
* Optional advantage: experienced in instrument control/DAQ (LabVIEW/Python), microfluidics, or computational photochemistry (DFT/TD-DFT)
* Careful laboratory practice, data integrity, and safety mindset; ability to plan, execute, and document experiments independently and rigorously
* Excellent scientific writing and communication skills in English or German; reliable, and results-focused; proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
