Sr. System Dev. Engineer, WW AMZL Innovation and Design Engineering
Amazon, founded in 1995, aims to be the world's most customer-centric company. Amazon Logistics (AMZL) seeks an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Software Development Engineer to lead the development of new robotic products for our Delivery Station of the future. This role involves working within the Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team to strategize, define, and manage robotics software development for AMZL Delivery Stations.
This position requires entrepreneurial individuals with robotics, engineering, planning, and analytical skills. You will influence the Amazon last mile automation roadmap by collaborating with Robotics, Software Tech Teams, Process Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and Engineering teams to enhance the customer shopping experience.
Key responsibilities
1. Develop complex mechatronics products as part of a team of experts.
2. Apply advanced technical expertise in industrial automation systems, including TIA Portal, Codesys, HMI, VFDs, Servo Drives, and industrial fieldbuses.
3. Utilize communication protocols like TCP/IP and OPC-UA.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
5. Work with camera systems and Linux OS (preferred).
6. Use version control systems such as git.
7. Implement Object-Oriented Industrial Programming (OOIP).
8. Manage software development lifecycle including design, integration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
9. Lead project management activities, including on-site commissioning and SAT.
10. Communicate effectively across diverse cultural contexts.
11. Ensure compliance with international safety standards and certifications.
12. Develop automation solutions like conveyors, sorters, and robotic work cells.
13. Write requirements and technical specifications.
14. Conduct technical reviews and reporting.
15. Lead discussions on automation scalability strategies with cross-functional teams.
About the team
You will oversee the development and continuous improvement of software libraries and applications for AMZL. Your tasks include collaborating with product owners and technical stakeholders to define software architecture, ensuring solution standardization and scalability, and integrating new vendor technologies into the AMZL Software Architecture. You will coordinate testing and commissioning in the AMZL Innovation Center.
Minimum qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or related field.
* Experience programming in at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby).
* Experience in systems design, software development, automation, and process improvement.
* Experience building tools for building, testing, releasing, or monitoring.
* Professional software/system development experience (non-internship).
* Proficiency in programming with Codesys.
* Experience in automation product development and complex control systems design and validation.
* Proven project management skills.
* Experience reviewing electrical drawings and using CAD and simulation tools.
* Experience managing complex automation projects with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications
* Master's degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
* Experience with Machine Learning, IoT, and AI platforms.
