About the Role
The Acoustic Systems Engineer will work on Harman’s Car Audio system design, development and the focus on tuning of new audio systems cars: The role will leverage Harman’s brand technology leadership to create the best automotive audio systems in the world.
What You Will Do
1. Design and tune audio systems in the automotive environment for multiple projects, platforms and tools
2. Prepare technical requirements and report presentations
3. Support departmental initiatives and activities as directed by the department management team
4. Provide technical support and guidance for the solution of various customers’ and interdepartmental initiatives
5. Develop and document tools and best practices in an international environment
6. Planning and managing customer projects and alignment with internal and external stakeholders
7. Pick up and delivering cars from customer to car lab
8. Preparation of internal/ external audits within the work domain and location
9. Organization of local poolcar- and equipment maintenance
10. Support or execution of mechanical tasks e.g. disassembling and mounting hardware components loudspeaker, amplifier, head-unit)
11. Create and maintain project documentation and reporting for various stakeholders
12. Travel to customers and other Harman sites within Europe on a weekly basis
What You Need to Be Successful
13. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Acoustics is required. Master’s degree in Engineering preferred. Alternatively, Tonmeister degree
14. Thorough knowledge of acoustics combined with practical experience
15. Three years or more of design experience of audio systems and/or components within the automotive or consumer industry
16. 3+ years or more of experience in an audio related field (studio, mixing, recording, …) is required;
17. Specific experience required in 3 or more of the following fields: acoustical engineering, transducer engineering, digital signal processing, amplifier engineering, physical/psycho-acoustics and recording arts.
18. Knowledge of best practices in product development and sound tuning
19. User experience and knowledge of audio tools
20. Basic knowledge of loudspeaker design
21. Playing multiple instruments is strongly preferred
22. Excellent hearing capability
23. Detailed knowledge of acoustic theory, sound reproduction and sound system tuning is required
24. Experience on algorithm development and programming is preferred (e.g. Matlab, C, C++))
25. Main communication language: English/ optional: German, Swedish, Italian or French)
26. Proficient in identifying and solving issues and recommending process improvements.
27. Ability to cooperate on technical and artistical solutions

29. Basic technical and construction skills
30. Open to travel to Harman sites within Europe (up to 75% of the time)
31. Drivers License
