Logistics Engineer – Engine Plant Relaunch

Location: Kiel, Germany (On-site with some flexibility)

About the Company & The Role:

Our client is a global engineering and product development leader that has recently secured a major long‑term contract with a world‑renowned organisation and is now relaunching an advanced engine manufacturing plant in Kiel. This Logistics Engineer role will be central to designing, validating and implementing the end‑to‑end materials flow, ensuring every component reaches the right point‑of‑use safely, efficiently and on time.

You will own the PFEP for all parts, define flow paths and replenishment methods across low‑value to large components, and build robust logistics processes from warehouse through to the line side. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering and cross‑functional teams, you will create standard work, specify MHE, and implement kitting, storage and packaging solutions that enable a smooth and scalable plant relaunch.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience:

* Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering or Logistics.
* Proven experience developing and managing a Plan for Every Part (PFEP) in complex manufacturing environments.
* Hands‑on background in material flow design, including flow paths, replenishment methods and point‑of‑use (POU) logistics.
* Strong experience with kitting and storage solutions for low‑value, mid‑size and large component parts.
* Track record setting up stall build solutions, flow cells, racks and line‑side locations to support assembly operations.
* Experience creating and maintaining standard work instructions across warehouse and production processes.
* Familiarity with sizing and specifying material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts, pallet jacks or AGVs.
* Knowledge of Inventory Risk Assessment (IRA) processes and component packaging engineering in a manufacturing or automotive context.

Skills & Attributes:

* Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate build sequences into practical logistics and POU layouts.
* Structured and detail‑oriented approach to designing end‑to‑end processes, from warehouse receipt through to line‑side delivery.
* Confident communicator who can align with Manufacturing Engineering and wider stakeholders on PFEP, flow paths and standard work.
* Continuous improvement focus, comfortable challenging existing practices and introducing innovative logistics solutions.
* Collaborative team player who thrives in fast‑moving project environments and enjoys working in a global engineering company.

Key Responsibilities:

* Confirm and align the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) for all components within the GCM24 programme.
* Define flow paths and replenishment methods for low‑value (H2K size), mid‑size and large component parts.
* Design kits, storage concepts and pick processes, including methods for triggering and tracking kits through the plant.
* Design line‑side locations and racks for both stall build and flow cell solutions, ensuring optimal support for assembly.
* Work with the Manufacturing Engineering team to define POU locations based on build sequence and operational needs.
* Define standard work for all elements of the process from warehouse through to POU, ensuring clarity and repeatability.
* Size and specify MHE requirements for warehouse and shop‑floor movements, including transport to and from storage areas.
* Define and implement the IRA process to manage inventory risk and support supply chain resilience.
* Define and implement component packaging solutions to protect parts and optimise handling throughout the logistics chain.

Apply Now.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the logistics backbone of a flagship engine manufacturing programme, joining a global engineering leader at a pivotal moment of growth. If you are a logistics engineer who thrives on building best‑in‑class material flow and line‑side solutions in complex manufacturing environments, we would like to hear from you.
