We are on the lookout for an Engineering Manager, Java/Kotlin - Logistics, Workforce to join the Rider Hiring team on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.
In our Logistics Team, you’ll tackle high-impact challenges that make last-mile delivery efficient, affordable, and sustainable. Your work will directly improve experiences for riders, end customers, and merchants across the globe. Each enhancement you contribute will help Delivery Hero optimize delivery operations, supporting expansion into new areas like grocery and retail.
The Rider Hiring team team’s core objectives are:
1. Quick conversion: Speed up the entire funnel, from lead generation to delivering their first order.
2. Cost efficiency: Maximize the return on investment in recruitment by reducing manual effort and marketing spend.
3. Quality & accurate supply: Focus on high-quality applicants and only hire what is truly needed based on supply/demand data.
In this role you will,
4. Lead and empower a talented team of engineers
5. Partner with your product counterpart and provide technical direction to your team, facilitating the design of feasible and iterative solutions aligned with the business needs.
6. Own the tech metrics and KPIs of your team, ensuring full visibility, tracking, and alerting.
7. Support and enhance the incident resolution process and team on-call practices.
8. Provide technical and non-technical mentorship to junior team members.
9. Navigate and manage both technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively addressing and overcoming challenges
Qualifications
10. You are familiar with the Kotlin/JVM and programming language agnostic with a clear understanding of core concepts, and paradigms, and can abstract this knowledge to multiple scenarios.
11. You are comfortable with both API-based (HTTP, gRPC) and event-based communication (SNS/SQS, Kafka).
12. You are a pragmatic person who understands what should get done and what is needed to get things done.
13. You are a knowledgeable technical guide, with min. 2 years of leadership experience, who aligns with and supports product and business goals.
14. You believe in cross-functional teams (Backend, Frontend, DataScience, Operations, Analytics) and have experience managing dependencies across tasks and teams.
15. You have experience working with IaaC (Infrastructure as Code) setups; most of our infrastructure runs on Kubernetes deployed with Helm and terraform in AWS.
16. You care about your team and your own personal and professional development.
