Marine Underwriting Leader
* Takes on the challenge of leading a team to achieve excellence in underwriting global marine risks.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for disciplinary and professional leadership of the department, accountability for underwriting decisions, and profit and loss (P&L) performance of HDI's global marine portfolio.
* Lead a team of underwriters in making informed decisions about complex risk segments such as automotive, commodity, and project cargo accounts.
* Develop and implement business strategies within the area of responsibility, including underwriting policy and risk appetite.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish underwriting excellence in the marine line of business.
* Coordinate professional training and continuing education programs for marine underwriters, focusing on complex risks.
Requirements
* Academic degree in business administration or law, or equivalent professional experience.
* Extensive experience in international underwriting of industrial risks in marine insurance.
* Leadership experience is desirable.
* Strong communication skills for conducting talks and negotiations.
* Sociability and ability to work in a team, working under pressure even in time-critical situations.
* Very good knowledge of the MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Business fluent in written and spoken German and English; other foreign languages are welcome.
* Willingness to travel.
