About the Role

As a Principal Audio Software Engineer, DSP, you will be part of the Immersive Audio Team within HARMAN Research and will be responsible for advancing new audio technologies from research through prototype development and productization readiness. You will support innovation across HARMAN's Automotive, Lifestyle and Professional product lines by developing and evaluating audio systems, signal processing algorithms, machine learning solutions, and test methodologies. You will lead the development across the full technology lifecycle: identifying new concepts, building proof-of-concept implementations, benchmarking and optimizing solutions for market readiness, and enabling successful transfer to commercialization teams. The focus of this position is to leverage background in audio, digital signal processing, machine learning, and optimization techniques to lead new acoustic technologies development.

What You Will Do

4. Independently design and implement Audio DSP algorithms in Embedded Audio platforms like Linux, Android or Tizen.

5. Architect and develop Linux-based audio applications on embedded devices.

6. Evaluate state of the art Audio DSP algorithms and drive their adaptation in new technologies.

7. Lead the efforts of inventing and maturing new acoustic technologies for further integration into products and services by external teams.

8. Promote and drive adoption of technologies developed by the Audio Systems team with internal Business Units and Engineering organizations.

9. Serve as the cross-functional technical owner for key technology developments, coordinating alignment across research, software, system, validation, and product teams.

10. Drive technical decisions, priorities, interfaces, and trade-offs across functions to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with product and user needs.

11. Define and drive qualification of audio algorithm performance using appropriate testing frameworks, objective analysis, and technical validation methods.

12. Guide the transfer of new technologies to commercialization teams, ensuring technical readiness and successful integration.

13. Write technical reports, white papers, and patent applications.

What You Need to Be Successful

14. Minimum of BSc degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, etc. and 8 years of relevant industry experience.

15. Experience with SW development on embedded platforms, using C/C++.

16. Experience with audio processing using MATLAB.

17. Experience with real-time audio signal processing algorithm design and implementation.

18. Experience implementing and testing algorithms derived from research papers.

19. Hands-on experience with agile SW development processes.

20. Experience with SDKs for audio processing development JUCE or equivalent).

21. Business fluent in English (verbal and written) .

Bonus Points if You Have

22. Linux, Tizen OS, Mac OS audio development.

23. Experience developing and scientifically supporting novel DSP algorithm concepts, with publications and/or patent applications.

24. Experience with acoustic systems measurements.

25. Practical experience with embedded systems prototyping and debugging.

26. Hands-on experience with continuous integration systems configuration.
