The Role / Job Summary: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Compliance Manager ( Berlin-based ) to lead and own all compliance-related activities across our company. This pivotal role involves not only establishing and maintaining our internal compliance framework but also managing external security and compliance inquiries from current and potential customers. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, adept at driving compliance initiatives across all teams, setting clear requirements, managing timelines effectively, and working towards the automation of compliance processes. A key long-term objective for this role will be to guide the company towards achieving relevant certifications, such as ISO 27001. What You'll Do / Key Responsibilities: As our Compliance Manager, you will own and drive Aklamio’s compliance strategy across the company. Your key responsibilities include: Compliance Program Ownership: Develop and maintain a company-wide compliance framework aligned with GDPR, DSGVO, and industry standards. Industry Certification : Lead the preparation, execution, and maintenance of ISO 27001 and other relevant certifications. Client-Facing Compliance : Respond to compliance questionnaires, audits, and due diligence requests from our (enterprise) customers. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with Legal, Engineering, Product, Sales, and Customer Success and other departments to embed compliance into daily operations. Policy & Risk Management : Create and enforce internal policies, conduct risk assessments, and lead internal audits to address security and compliance risks. Process Improvement: Automate and streamline compliance workflows, especially for customer-facing documentation and surveys. Training & Reporting: Deliver compliance training, monitor adherence, and report regularly to senior leadership. Continuous Learning : Stay up to date with regulatory changes and industry best practices in compliance and security. What You'll Bring / Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field (relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CISM, CRISC, or similar) are a plus). Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in a compliance, risk management, information security, or related role. Strong knowledge of data protection regulations (particularly GDPR) and other relevant legal and regulatory frameworks. Demonstrated experience in managing and responding to customer security and compliance questionnaires and audits, with a strong focus on automating these processes for efficiency. Excellent understanding of compliance frameworks, standards, and methodologies. A pragmatic, solution oriented mindset - you know how to balance compliance with business agility Exceptional communication and project management skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex compliance topics to diverse stakeholders, work independently or cross-functionally, and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment. Clear, confident communication skills in English (German is a plus).
