Executive Director – Corporate Rating
Scope Ratings is looking for an Executive Director Corporate Ratings with strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving capabilities. The position is based in Berlin/Frankfurt/Madrid/Milan/Paris/Poznan/Oslo. You will lead credit rating committees, analyze complex non‑financial corporates, develop and maintain credit rating methodologies, write insightful credit research, lead operational review visits, and engage with investors, issuers and arrangers. The role includes leadership for a small team of analysts.
Duties & responsibilities
* Perform analysis and conduct credit research on a diversified portfolio of corporate credits across high‑yield and investment‑grade corporates.
* Monitor existing ratings and recommend reviews or changes on a timely basis.
* Present to and participate in rating committees.
* Act as the communication point‑of‑contact between Scope Ratings and customers, interacting with senior executives and media.
* Conduct discussions with clients and investors and give professional presentations and briefings.
* Produce high‑quality, insightful, forward‑looking research and analytical comments.
* Chair rating committees and approve rating actions.
* Manage a small team of analysts, steering ratings production, process execution and analytical activities.
* Contribute to the development of the rating franchise.
* Develop and maintain credit rating methodologies.
* Engage in investor, issuer and arranger outreach, presenting and explaining Scope’s analytical approach.
* Work closely with other corporates team members, staff and management in Scope Ratings.
Qualifications
* 15+ years of relevant experience in the financial industry (e.g., rating agency, investment fund or investment bank) with analytical and quantitative skills and solid understanding of non‑financial corporates; experience with high‑yield issuers and complex financial structures is a plus.
* High familiarity and relevant experience with European financial markets.
* Master’s degree in finance, banking, economics, statistics, mathematics or equivalent; CFA charter is a plus.
* Willingness to take responsibility with an entrepreneurial attitude; accountable and reliable with highest integrity.
* Leadership qualities and proven track‑record to act as a role model.
* Proven record of conducting and writing insightful research.
* Strong teamwork, confident professional appearance, high social and communication skills.
* Multi‑cultural, collaborative, self‑starter, versatile, inquisitive and detail‑oriented personality.
* Ability to meet deadlines and motivate others to do the same.
* Ready to travel and flexible with tasks and duties.
* Extensive sector knowledge is a plus.
* Proficient written and oral communication skills in English; other European languages are a plus.
