This role enables our business to comply with relevant export, import, and customs compliance laws and regulations under the jurisdictions of the countries where these companies operate, with a focus on Germany.
You will be responsible for checking and professionally processing all import and export processes, preference checks, and assigning customs and tax codes to our products. This role also involves close collaboration with all relevant stakeholders within the company, regionally, and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain comprehensive export compliance documentation and processes
2. Ensure strict adherence to all applicable domestic and international trade regulations, including implementation of specific directives from regulatory authorities
3. Monitor and analyze global trade regulation changes, assessing potential business impact and coordinating cross-functional compliance initiatives
Regulatory Interface & Compliance Management
1. Serve as primary liaison with the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA), addressing processing inquiries, legal questions, preliminary consultations, license applications, zero notices, goods classification inquiries, and other foreign trade matters
2. Manage export licensing processes, including comprehensive oversight and monitoring of all export activities
3. Act as designated point of contact for customs and export control matters with business partners and government authorities
Process Improvement & Training
1. Identify opportunities to define and enhance export control-related processes
2. Deliver comprehensive instruction and training to employees across all organizational levels
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in business administration, international relations, logistics, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications such as FTA, NAFTA, AEO, HTS, C-TPAT, EAR, ITC, or similar are also desired.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Export trade compliance, audit, or a related industry, with practical experience with customs documentation and procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and familiarity with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle are also necessary.
Language Skills
Fluent English (C1/C2) and a minimum B2 in German, with conversational level proficiency.
