We are seeking an experienced and driven Automotive Plant Controller to oversee the financial operations of our $250 million revenue manufacturing facility.
Job Summary:
The Automotive Plant Controller will be responsible for the overall financial management of the plant, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing plant-level financials in a high-volume, manufacturing environment and will provide strategic guidance to the plant management team to achieve business objectives. This role requires a high level of analytical skills, leadership, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis:
Lead the annual budget process for the plant, working closely with department heads and senior management to align financial goals with operational objectives.
Develop and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts, ensuring accuracy in all financial projections.
Provide variance analysis and insights to management on cost control, revenue performance, and operational efficiency.
Cost Management & Control:
Ensure all plant costs are accurately tracked, analyzed, and reported, including direct labor, materials, overhead, and inventory.
Implement and maintain effective cost control systems, ensuring adherence to budget and achieving cost reduction targets.
Drive continuous improvement in cost management processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and cost savings.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.
Lead the preparation and review of the plant’s financial statements for external auditors and internal stakeholders.
Operational Support & Decision-Making:
Partner with plant leadership to provide financial insights that support operational decisions, including product costing, capacity utilization, and investment decisions.
Advise on financial implications of new projects, capital expenditures, and process improvements.
Assist in pricing decisions, customer profitability analysis, and contract negotiations.
Inventory & Working Capital Management:
Oversee inventory management, ensuring accurate valuation and optimal working capital.
Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure proper inventory controls are in place and excess inventory is minimized.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and develop the plant finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Provide mentorship and training to staff to ensure financial processes are understood and executed accurately.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in plant or manufacturing finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Experience managing financial operations for a plant with annual revenues of $150 million or more, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of cost accounting, financial modeling, and budgeting in a manufacturing environment.
Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and other financial regulations.
Leadership & Communication:
Proven ability to lead a team and collaborate effectively with cross-functional groups.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve financial and operational issues in a timely manner.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
