Position Summary:
The Senior Acoustic Systems Engineer will work on Harman’s Car Audio system design, development and the focus on tuning of new audio systems cars: The Lead Engineer role will leverage Harman’s brand technology leadership to create the best automotive audio systems in the world. You will lead the audio system design, development and tuning of new audio systems into cars. The role will leverage your acoustic technical skills, customer interfacing skills and collaboration skills to cross-functionally deliver the best audio systems possible.
What You Will Do:
1. Design, implement, tune and or assist in tuning and approve final tuning of audio systems for the automotive environment
2. Prepare technical requirements and report presentations
3. Support departmental initiatives and activities as directed by the department management team
4. Provide technical support and guidance for the solution of various customers’ and interdepartmental initiatives
5. Develop and document tools and best practices in an international environment and ensure a uniform level of knowledge within OEM teams
6. Planning and managing customer projects and alignment with internal and external stakeholders
7. Lead customer discussions pertaining to current and future capabilities centered around the acoustic discipline and technology enablers that assist in the products intended experience
8. Responsible for all acoustic systems Harman provides for specific OEM customers and their responsible regions
9. Technical management and steering of the project engineers e.g. deployment to customer facilities, define requirements on tools, work procedures, work packages, …)
10. Technical Lead, training, support, evaluation and task management of engineers within project teams
11. Responsible to ensure pick up and delivering cars from customer to car lab
12. Preparation of internal/ external audits within the work domain and location
13. Organization of local poolcar- and equipment maintenance
14. Support or execution of mechanical tasks e.g. disassembling and mounting hardware components (loudspeaker, amplifier, head-unit)
15. Create and maintain project documentation and reporting for various stakeholders.
16. Travel to customers and other Harman sites within Europe
What You Need:
17. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Acoustics is required. Master’s degree in Engineering preferred. Alternatively, Tonmeister degree
18. Thorough knowledge of acoustics combined with practical experience
19. Three years or more of design experience of audio systems and/or components within the automotive or consumer industry
20. 9+ years or more of experience in an audio related field is required; Five years or more of experience is strongly preferred
21. Specific experience required in 3 or more of the following fields: acoustical engineering, transducer engineering, digital signal processing, amplifier engineering, physical/psycho-acoustics and recording arts. playing an instrument is strongly preferred
22. Knowledge of best practices in product development and sound tuning
23. User experience and knowledge of audio tools
24. Basic knowledge of loudspeaker design
25. Excellent hearing capability
26. Detailed knowledge of acoustic theory, sound reproduction and sound system tuning is required
27. Experience on algorithm development and programming is preferred (e.g. Matlab, C, C++))
28. Main communication language: English/ optional: German, Swedish, Italian or French)
29. Proficient in identifying and solving issues and recommending process improvements.
30. Ability to cooperate on technical and artistical solutions

33. Open to travel to Harman sites within Europe (up to 40% of the time)
