The Bioinformatics Group is responsible for the statistical modelling & biological interpretation of mass-spectrometry-derived quantitative protein expression data and works closely with all other groups within the Company to meet the requirements of our customers in the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. We are currently seeking to appoint an outstanding individual with a proven track record of leadership and innovation to the role of Group Leader Data Science & Bioinformatics. We are looking for a highly motivated Group Leader Data Science & Bioinformatics As Group Leader Data Science & Bioinformatics you will be responsible for all day-to-day aspects of the group’s activities as well as developing a strategic vision for the growth of data sciences within the organization. You will have direct line management responsibilities for your team and will be expected to perform data analysis projects using our validated integration and statistical modelling tools. You are also required to engage with the Sales team to lead bioinformatics discussions with clients at all stages of project acquisition, execution and reporting. Team leadership through effective management and development of staff in the Data Science & Bioinformatics Group Supporting the COO in the management of group resources and capacity planning to ensure a timely delivery of client projects within the allocated budget. Provision of bioinformatics input in the design and planning of all commercial and internal projects Development of bioinformatics methods / software & performance of bioinformatics analysis for specific projects Monitoring bioinformatics tool performance through regular in-process and post-project review Supporting functional analysis of proteomics data to reveal detailed information on regulatory and signaling pathways affected by disease or drug treatment Development, verification and support of big data handling and visualization tools Continuous surveillance of the developments in the fields of bioinformatics, big data analytics and machine learning, especially within the Omics space. Management of requirements and procedures of the department in accordance with ISO9001:2015 and GCLP A degree in a relevant area of competency (e.g., statistics, bioinformatics, computer sciences or a natural science) with relevant industry experience (e.g., 8-10 years) preferably including a leadership role within a commercial environment. In-depth knowledge of statistics and bioinformatics with a sound knowledge of proteomics and/or genomics or a closely related field Detailed knowledge of advanced statistical modelling techniques and machine learning methods, preferably evidenced by a strong list of publications Extensive research experience in bioinformatics data analysis with a focus on analysing large data sets and cross-omics studies utilizing cloud-based computing. Proficiency in programming, scripting in statistics using Python & R (knowledge of other languages is a plus) and willingness to report and document the work under regulatory conditions Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and proficiency in German (B2/C1) desirable Experience of working in a regulatory environment (e.g., GxP, GCLP, ISO, etc.) is advantageous We offer a competitive remuneration package and opportunities for professional and personal development in a very stimulating working environment.
