Mediadesign University of Applied Sciences (mdh) is seeking to fill a professorship for English-language study programs in the field of design and media at its Berlin campus at the earliest possible date.

Qualifications
You are a professional with demonstrated expertise in the use of various tools and the proficient application of current AI technologies.
As a designer, you have several years of experience in the field of generative design and are skilled in the creation, evaluation, selection, and further development of generative systems. Your expertise includes both creative coding and the development of algorithms for generative design.
As a researcher, you are closely engaged with emerging trends in media development, digital media, and AI-based art. You investigate new technological developments and translate them into innovative applications and use cases.
It is advantageous if, in addition to experience with image-generating AI, you also have a strong background in machine learning, enabling you to actively shape and advance the department through AI integration. You are familiar with ethical, legal, and theoretical considerations surrounding current developments and their societal implications.
Your expertise includes, but is not limited to:
* Creative coding and generative design
* Technical skills (e.g., p5.js, JavaScript, Processing, Python)
* Machine learning (concepts, techniques, applications)
* Creativity and an innovative mindset at the intersection of technology, design, and art
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility will be teaching in the Master of Arts in Design across all three specializations, depending on your profile.
You will ensure a practice-oriented and forward-looking education in media technologies, new media, and tools for the design process as well as media presentation.
You will collaborate closely with companies and organizations in digital art, design, fine arts, and data science to align teaching content with current industry demands.
You will supervise and support students in their academic and personal development.
You will contribute to university committees and governance structures.
You will also be responsible for the continuous academic development of the study program, including quality management, and actively participate in academic self-administration.
Your Profile
You are an experienced designer and developer with a deep understanding and many years of experience in both classical and contemporary design principles.
You are highly familiar with the various domains and trends in design—particularly digital design—as well as current technologies and their application in creative projects.
Working with large datasets and applying machine learning methodologies are integral parts of your creative practice.
You have at least three years of experience in higher education teaching.
Your strong industry experience enables you to recruit subject-matter experts as full-time and adjunct lecturers.
Requirements
* Completed university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree in a field relevant to this position
* Pedagogical aptitude, demonstrated through teaching and practical experience
* At least five years of professional experience in the areas listed under qualifications
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Openness to new developments and creativity
