Team / division overview
The Real Estate division of DWS is a full-service Real Estate manager with €60 billion in Assets Under Management (AUM) globally and €25 billion in Europe. DWS Real Estate acquires and manages investments in individual assets or Real Estate portfolios on behalf of funds and separate accounts. The Real Estate Debt team originates and executes senior and mezzanine Real Estate Debt transactions in Europe, which are to be acquired by Debt funds managed by DWS. The team currently manages c. €2bn AUM across the debt capital stack and is currently in the process of launching a new, pan European high yield real estate debt fund, targeting whole loan and mezzanine financings.
We are looking for an ambitious and detail-oriented finance professional to join our growing Real Estate Debt Team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of real estate finance, investment strategy, and portfolio analytics within a dynamic environment.
The Portfolio Management Analyst will be involved in the management of DWS’ European real estate debt funds, the management and acquisition of commercial real estate loans in Europe and the US as well as the strategic development of the business.
Role Details
As aPortfolio Management Analyst - Real Estate Debt (m/f/d) you will (be):
1. Fund Management - Support overall management of real estate debt funds (incl. portfolio construction/development of fund strategy, investment selection and corresponding guidance of transactions team, monitor compliance of investments with guidelines etc.).
2. Client Advisory & Reporting - Assist Portfolio Managers in preparing fund reports and investor presentations.
3. Financial Modelling - Building and running financial models to support decision-making in relation to the management of portfolios as well as the wider development of the business.
4. Loan Asset Management - Work on Loan Asset Management in cooperation with Portfolio Managers and Real Estate Debt Transactions Team; help coordinate and monitor external parties (e.g. loan servicers, legal counsel, and other advisors)
5. Transaction Support - Support review of real estate finance transactions/investments in Europe & US; Work on underwriting of German real estate financings (together with London based Real Estate Debt Transactions Team; help coordinate real estate analysis with German Equity Transactions Team)
6. Investment Analysis - Help prepare internal and external investment recommendations as applicable in cooperation with debt transactions investment teams, thereby:
7. support preparation and/or review of financial models of loan investments,
8. evaluate real estate markets together with research
9. assist in presentation of investor recommendations and investor Q&A
10. Compliance& Documentation - Ensure all portfolio activities adhere to internal policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
We are looking for
11. University degree in Finance/Business/Economics/Real Estate
12. First experience within the financial industry with exposure to real estate financing, underwriting and / or valuations preferred.
13. Proven ability to create and maintain financial models.
14. Entrepreneurial mind set; ability & willingness to quickly get up to speed on new topics
15. High level of commitment, assertiveness and self-initiative
16. Distinctive analytical and conceptional skills
17. Strong communication skills and ability to effectively work in platform with teams across several locations
18. Proficiency required in German and English, further European language advantageous
