Systems Engineer Instruments (m/f/d)
In this position you will contribute to the definition and development of next generation space missions by supporting the development of instrument simulators and corresponding post-processing modules. Together with our highly motivated and qualified team, you shall become responsible for the definition, extension, development and validation of algorithms, scientific software, mission simulators and image processing modules.
Your Tasks
1. Define, test and implement algorithms for the E2E simulation of hyper- and multispectral EO missions. This includes:
Investigate implementation options for sensor modules in terms of complexity, physical representativeness and performance requirements Research, prototype and implement image processing algorithms with focus on on-board applicationsDefine interfaces and according requirements for simulation modulesSupport instrument development with intermediate simulation outputs and sensitivity analysis
2. Support the development of high level E2E simulator architectures in complex environments
3. Conduct verification and validation activities including the planning and reporting
4. Define work packages and manage interfaces with external sub-contractors in industry and academia
5. Review different sub-contractor results, like technical proposals, technical reports, software, data or specifications
6. Support technical discussion with customer or supplier
7. Cooperate closely with internal and external partners concerned with the development of both space and ground segment operational software and hardware
Your Qualifications
8. University / polytechnic degree or PhD in scientific or engineering subject (Earth System Science, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Signal Processing or similar
9. Proficient in at least one of the following categories:
Technical and physical optics, spectrometry and optical instrumentsSignal processing & mathematical modellingImage processing algorithms
10. Experience in scientific programming ( MATLAB, Python), including a good understanding of algorithmic complexity and/or efficient implementations
11. Good communication and negotiation skills
12. Pro-active, solution and product oriented approach
13. Fluent in English in reading and writing.
