We want an earth that is worth living on. Our applied research in Circular Economy, Carbon Management, Green Hydrogen and Local Energy Systems makes concrete contributions to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. As an institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, we show how to not only master challenges, but grow with them. We push boundaries, think ahead and shape the future with applied research. Diverse perspectives and approaches strengthen creativity and innovation in our scientific work.
Would you like to help us shape a sustainable world? We are looking for reinforcement!
The department “Power-to-Chemicals: Stacks and Pilot Systems” conducts research and development on electrochemical processes for utilizing CO2 as a raw material. The focus is on high-pressure CO2 electrolysis, which selectively converts CO2 into carbon monoxide using renewable energy. The goal is to scale this technology up from the laboratory to an industrial-scale level, thereby contributing to a closed carbon cycle.
Be part of change
* Degradation analysis of existing systems and identification of optimization potential for further development
* Coating of membrane electrode assemblies and their characterization
* Modifications to the design of the electrochemical cell
* Execution and evaluation of measurement series on the high-pressure electrolysis test bench
* Presentation of results at internal meetings and scientific seminars
What you contribute
* Master’s studies in chemistry, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, energy and process engineering, environmental engineering or a related field
* Proficiency in laboratory and pilot plant operations
* Ideally basic knowledge of CO2 electrolysis and/or high-pressure systems
* Ability to work independently
* Openness and interest in exploring new, innovative technologies
