The Position Join us at the forefront of innovation in early Oncology clinical development, where your expertise as a (Senior) Principal Clinical Data Scientist will shape the future of clinical drug development. In this pivotal role, you will drive strategic planning and execution across the entire analytics spectrumu2014from descriptive and diagnostic insights to predictive and prescriptive modelingu2014leveraging clinical trial data, registries, and realu2011world data. You will represent biostatistics at the asset level, coordinating and collaborating closely with programming and data management to ensure scientific excellence. Working in a highly collaborative, crossu2011functional environment, you will influence trial design, assess clinical trial strategies and development scenarios, as well as help unlock new possibilities for patients in need. This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 1-2 days per week on site. This position can be filled either as Principal Clinical Data Scientist or Senior Principal Clinical Data Scientist. This position is part time eligible with 80%. Tasks & responsibilities In your new role, you will lead and oversee designing, transforming, analyzing and reporting of complex early Oncology clinical trials, projects or additional R&D data sources such as registries and real world database tailored to specific use cases, projects, or assets. You will develop and implement fit-for-purpose statistical designs and Go/NoGo decision frameworks through simulations and scenario planning to ensure high-quality evidence generation. In addition, you will apply advanced statistical methodologies, stay abreast of internal and external developments in data science, and translate emerging insights into innovative approaches for early Oncology development. You will foster innovative digital strategies to produce sophisticated, intelligent optimization solutions, innovative processes and predictive models. Moreover, you will present compelling, validated narratives on complex datau2011science topics to Biostatistics colleagues and crossu2011functional stakeholders within and outside of Boehringer Ingelheim. You will guide colleagues, internal and external customers, and external providers on data science related tasks, while coordinating crossu2011functionally with programming and datau2011management teams and supporting the clinical drugu2011development process where applicable. Additionally, you will participate in crossu2011functional (external) working groups, contribute to regulatory interactions by ensuring statistical rigor, collaborate cross-functional as a team player, and liaise with lateu2011phase Oncology Biostatistics and Data Science teams to leverage synergies and share knowledge. Additional tasks for the Senior role You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Process Lead for designing, transforming, analyzing, and reporting complex early Oncology clinical trials and other challenging R&D datasets such as registries and realu2011world databases. Moreover, you will lead crossu2011functional BI working groups as well as drive or plan key datau2011science aspects. You will identify emerging trends and advancements in data science within and outside Boehringer Ingelheim to proactively shape innovative analytical practices. In addition, you will foster advanced digital and predictive solutions, including intelligent optimization approaches, and, where applicable, support the clinical drugu2011development process up to the Therapeutic Area or asset level. Requirements Completed university degree from an accredited institution in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field (Psychology, Data Science, Finance, etc.) with longstanding relevant professional experience or alternatively Doctoral Degree (PhD) with several years professional experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry, CROs, regulatory authorities or academic institutions. Working experience might be partially compensated by broad and deep topic-specific knowledge. Advanced project lead experience as well as broad knowledge and advanced experience in software languages relevant for business needs and understanding of clinical trial development process required Preferred to have basic medical understanding of Oncology disease areas, including familiarity with clinical endpoints, RECIST criteria, cancer-related terminology, therapeutic strategies and statistical modeling for translational research In-depth understanding of advanced statistical concepts related to Data Science combined with understanding and applying key principles of data science Demonstrated broad knowledge in planning, transforming, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data in complex clinical trials, in projects with established Boehringer Ingelheim experience or data from other sources in clinical research and development Thorough knowledge of statistical methodology, design of clinical trials or clinical experiments, basic medical terminology and on processing clinical trial information Comprehensive knowledge and application of international clinical and statistical regulations and guidelines (including all ICH regions), global therapeuticu2011areau2013specific development guidance, and internal clinical development processes and SOPs Ability to lead and facilitate meetings as well as develop and deliver trainings related to data science paired with fluency in English Additional requirements for the Senior role Doctoral Degree (PhD) from an accredited institution in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field (Psychology, Data Science, Finance, etc.) with long-term relevant professional experience Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge in planning, transforming, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data in complex situations that represent new challenges and for which project and therapeutic knowledge is not given Excellent knowledge of statistical methodology, design of clinical trials or clinical experiments, basic medical terminology and on processing clinical trial information Advanced understanding of cutting-edge statistical concepts related to Data Science Comprehensive working knowledge of broad variety of aspects of relevant software languages.
