The successful candidate should have a track record of excellent research in Landscape Evolution in the biodiversity hotspot of Central America and\/or Colombia to lead research initiatives we have started in that region. Job responsibilities will include a variety of tasks related to scientific research, including but not limited to: \n


Your responsibilities: \n
\n
1. Conducting excellent scientific research - furthering understanding of landscape evolution using combined and\/or novel approaches (e.g., numerical simulation, data assimilation and collection of new data, satellite data analysis, stratigraphic and sedimentary analysis) \n
2. Writing proposals for research funding to start a research group (e.g., Emmy Noether grant, ERC Starting Grant) \n
3. Writing and submitting scientific papers \n
4. Assist and co-supervise students in the analysis of digital elevation datasets, designing sampling strategies, and analysing data \n
5. Participating in teaching courses such as Surface Processes and Active Tectonics \n
6. Presenting work at scientific conferences \n


About You: \n

Essential Qualifications:\u00a0 \n

\n
7. A PhD and Master's degree (or equivalent) in Geology, Geomorphology, Tectonics, or related field \n
8. Excellent track record of scientific research and publication \n
9. Demonstrated experience with data analysis and\/or numerical simulations \n
10. Excellent communication skills \n
11. Fluency in English (written and oral), Strong competency in Spanish \n
12. Familiarity with cosmogenic and thermochronologic data analysis \n
13. Experience with organising and conducting field work in a tropical setting \n \n

Desirable Qualifications: \n

14. Experience working in a clean laboratory \n
15. Driver\u2019s license\u00a0 \n

Fixed-term: 12 months
Salary: The position is classed as salary group 13 according to \u201cTV\u00f6D Bund (Tarifgebiet Ost)\u201d. The salary group is determined on the basis of the Collective Wage Agreement and the respective personal qualifications.
Working hours: Part-time 75% (currently 29.25 h\/week)
Place of work: Potsdam \n\n
